3/21/05 Celeste Launches First Lavatory Service Bulletin

Easton, MD – March 21, 2005 -

To support aircraft maintenance and cleaning professionals, Celeste Industries Corp has begun issuing a series of Service Bulletins that include information and tips for cleaning and maintaining lavatory equipment and surfaces. The first of these bulletins (2005-LAV-1) discusses how to clean red stains from the bowls of vacuum toilet systems.

The problem cited attacked in this first bulletin is described as: "Some vacuum toilets on commercial aircraft have a problem with rust-colored or reddish staining that appears at the top portion of the toilet bowl. This stain seems to be a combination of hard water minerals and fungus that forms a very hard crust on the surface of the toilet bowl and is nearly impossible to remove without damage to the bowl coating."

The service bulletin describes a procedure that has been proven effective in removing the red stain and improving the aesthetics of the lavatory; thereby improving the flying experience for passengers. To remove stains, Celeste's Gly-Vak™ vacuum line de-scaling chemical is used in combination with a portable steamer to remove the stain without damage to the delicate surface of the vacuum toilet bowl.
