10/13/05 Celeste Industries Corp. Announces Aircraft Potable Water Program

Easton, MD – October 13, 2005 -

Celeste Industries Corp has announced the launch of its Safe Water program for passenger aircraft. Aimed at providing a cost effective solution to commercial airline water quality problems, the Safe Water program combines effective removal of bio-fouling with an innovative water quality preservation solution. According to Don Cooper, Celeste's Chief Chemist, improving the quality of potable water starts with removal of the film that coats the walls of closed water systems. "All public water supplies contain low levels of bacteria that are not a problem in normal open water systems" say Mr. Cooper." But, when stored in a closed system, such as the water tank and water lines of a commercial aircraft, a bio-fouling process begins as mineral deposits provide a growth surface for bacteria colonies."

The layering of mineral deposits and bacteria colonies creates the phenomena known as bio-fouling that is evidenced by a slime build-up in the tank and lines. Celeste's Glyco-San™ potable water cleaner has been demonstrated as an effective product for the removal of mineral scale and bio-fouling.

To maintain the quality of potable water, Celeste Industries Corp. also provides a water conditioning system that combines a number of technologies into an innovative filter design. Andy Kenny, Celeste Product Manager, explains that the Celeste filter system "is a unique combination of water conditioning, chlorine reduction, mineral de-scaling, and particle filtration that results in potable water with great taste and overall quality". Data provided by Celeste shows a dramatic reduction in bacteria counts as the water passes through the Celeste filter system. Downstream equipment failures, particularly with coffee makers, are minimized by the reduction in scale.
